Fancy a dessert that feels classic and luxurious, yet surprisingly quick to prepare? This banana split with warm chocolate, caramel, and toasted almond combines familiar flavours with a new twist.

Ingredients
- 4banana — ripe but firm
- 12 scoopsvanilla ice cream — approx. 600 g
- 100 gdark chocolate
- 75 mlwhipping cream
- 80 gcaramel sauce
- 150 mlwhipping cream — for whipping
- 1 tbspcaster sugar
- 50 gflaked almonds
- ¼ tspfine sea salt
Method
- 1
Toast the flaked almonds for 2–3 minutes in a dry frying pan until lightly golden brown. Allow to cool.
- 2
Roughly chop the dark chocolate and place it in a bowl.
- 3
Heat 75 ml of whipping cream until just simmering. Pour over the chocolate and let stand for 1 minute. Then stir until you have a smooth, warm chocolate sauce.
- 4
Whip the remaining 150 ml of whipping cream with the sugar until light and airy. Do not whip too stiff; the cream should remain soft and creamy.
- 5
Peel the bananas and halve them lengthwise.
- 6
Arrange two banana halves loosely on an oblong plate per person.
- 7
Spoon three scoops of vanilla ice cream between the banana halves. They are intentionally not meant to be perfectly aligned.
- 8
Partially spoon the warm chocolate sauce over the ice cream and banana.
- 9
Distribute small, soft spoonfuls of whipped cream among the ice cream.
- 10
Drizzle the caramel sauce casually over the top.
- 11
Sprinkle the toasted flaked almonds over it and finish with a very small pinch of sea salt.
